  1. Aberdeen is Scotland's third largest city
  2. and seaport on the east coast of SCOTLAND.
  3. It has a population of around 230,000.
  4. Industries include agricultural machinery,
  5. paper, knitwear, textiles, fishing, 
  6. ship-building, granite quarrying and
  7. engineering. It is rich in historical
  8. interest and fine buildings.
  9. Oil discoveries in the North Sea in the 
  10. 1960s-1970s transformed Aberdeen into the 
  11. European offshore capital, with an airport
  12. and heliport linking the mainland to the
  13. surrounding oil rigs.
